Omani Women Day (Miss Independent)

Goal for the project: The client wanted a video for the Omani Women’s which is on 17th October of every year. They had the footage and wanted a production of the footage. The challenge was to combine the footage, transfer between the software also to work as a team, the time, organizing the timeline to finish before time to have space for any fixing, to fix the low quality footage as much as possible. The client had a vision of the video, I didn’t have any expectation, as it was a first time for me to hold a big project like this, plus the client had a creative vision because it was a team work with the client and they had some experience in video editing but wanted to also implement this idea for their business and to show the women who are independent in Oman, who are fighting to be successful and having their life and their career life.

Your experience: The process of producing this video was interesting, although it was intense as we had the time running behind us, implementing new ideas, getting new software, applications anything that makes it a magnificent video. There was some surprising creative ideas, also some ideas that was implemented it made my mind blow to how it came the video, the use of different software to make the video unique, the combining of footage in a way that makes it cleaner exciting to see. This project wasn’t sketched as I received the footage and was told what was in their mind. For video editing, I sometimes feel it depends on what you want, like this I was given the footage and was asked to combine. The team had different angle to view it that made me also see them work on different software than what I work with, then combine it to me and give changes between the software.

The outcome: Seeing the result, made me feel proud of working on this project. It has exceeded my expectation, that I was happy to work with the client again in another video, that it also had the same effect as this. After working in this project, I have learned that I need to learn how to be flexible using different software, because the client likes the final result and the quality of the work.

My role: My actual role was to combine the footage in a way that the client wants, also to get visual effects that makes the video smooth in transition, smooth when showing the speakers name, the transition between speakers, also, the voice over and footage of the girls wearing the Omani dress, translating the words. Also, editing some words in Arabic as not all software/websites support arabic.

This video was produced using several software, iMovie, after effect, premiere and Crello website. It was a callobarated video made graphic designer and me.
